The opposite end of the island is just a 35-minute ferry ride from downtown Seattle. The amazing sight of “extra” ferries at the WSF Maintainance Facility + Machine Shop greet you as you pull into the dock at Winslow Way. Winslow is the shopping mecca of the island with plenty of restaurants, bars, and wineries to give you a reprieve from your shopping adventures.

Bremerton

downtown bremerton

Bremerton is Kitsap County’s largest city, its downtown is spread across several blocks and will most likely require several visits to thoroughly experience the full magnitude of this eclectic waterfront area. Given its close proximity to downtown Seattle + Port Orchard via the ferry transit systems, it’s quite walkable from both Seattle and Port Orchard. This makes it a wonderful Kitsap Peninsula waterfront to explore on foot - a perfect date, family adventure, or solo exploration location.

Several beautiful parks are located throughout the city, and a boardwalk offers scenic views of the marina and waterfront along Liberty Bay. As a waterfront community, Port Orchard offers numerous marinas and the downtown corridor has shopping, museums, live theater, pubs, and dining. With ferry access from Bremerton and Seattle, an excursion to Port Orchard is an easy day trip or a weekend getaway.

A walk down Bay Street on the Port Orchard’s waterfront reveals a cluster of shops, restaurants, and experiences that are perfect for a few hours with family, girl-time, or even a solo trip. Port Orchard isn’t glitzy or ostentatious but it does have great locals and tons of heart.
