The Clear Creek Trail is darn near 8 miles of trails, boardwalks, and beautiful wetland and riparian environments along Silverdale’s Clear Creek. This trail network is a favorite among bird watchers, lunch break wanderers, dog walkers, and nature lovers - a Godsend for Silverdale residents who crave a respite in nature.

What Is It Known For?

Since the mid 90’s, the Clear Creek Task Force and the Kitsap Land Trust began the work of creating a system of trails that meanders though the highly developed urban environment of Silverdale. The trail was selected by Evening Magazine television viewers in 2007 as the "Best Hidden Hiking Trail" in Western Washington.

The Clear Creek Vision

Since its beginnings in the mid-90’s, Kitsap County residents have used this suburban trail system to reconnect with nature and to appreciate the area’s lovely natural landscapes. In the midst of such a highly developed region like Silverdale, one would be justified to assume that access to nature is in short supply. But a steadfast group of visionaries, environmental stewards and hard-working volunteers have over the years cobbled together a trail system that deserves appreciation and praise.

Port Orchard business owner and community leader Coreen Haydock was an early Administrator for the Clear Creek Task Force and remembers the early days of laying the groundwork for environmental preservation and community access to nature.

‘We felt the trail was important because of the rapid retail development in Silverdale. We saw that many retail buildings had turned their backs, literally, on this beautiful, historic creek. I’m thrilled that our project has introduced Clear Creek to so many people that didn’t know it existed. The popularity of the trail doesn’t surprise me, we knew it was something that people wanted.’
