learn about moving to the Kitsap peninsula

Why would you move to the Kitsap Peninsula? The answer is simple…it is one of the best places to live on the West Coast! Just a short ferry ride to Seattle, Kitsap boasts beautiful and close-knit communities, interesting people, great food, astounding natural landscapes and more wineries & breweries & distilleries than one person could ever need. For home buyers there is every option imaginable. Want to move to the beach? Kitsap has miles upon miles of waterfront. Want to move your family out of a busy city and grow roots in the country? Consider a rural farmhouse. Do you want to walk to the Seattle ferry? Downtown Bremerton, Manette and Port Orchard are great options. Maybe you’d like to live on the edge of one of Kitsap’s many forests? You could buy a dog! Or a pig?! Or start a garden!! Maybe all three! Being on the edge of the Olympic Mountains, there are quiet, rural areas all around, and you’re still close enough to shopping areas or that lovely 30 minute ferry ride to downtown Seattle during your work week.

Gig Harbor

A beautiful and idyllic water front community with great shopping, dining and lifestyle options. Truly the gateway to the Kitsap and Olympic Peninsulas, Gig Harbor has a rich cultural and maritime history. Gig Harbor is a regional draw and a local favorite for shopping, dining, movie going, golfing and recreation and it enjoys a healthy tourist draw as well. As you can see from the average home price, Gig Harbor is one of the more affluent cities on the Peninsula and has a reputation as such.

Port Orchard

Sitting on the shores of Sinclair Inlet, looking directly across the water at Bremerton and the Olympic Mountains and beyond, Port Orchard is a waterfront community with heart. A passenger foot ferry connects the quaint historic waterfront with the Bremerton waterfront and the Seattle ferry route and clusters of waterfront communities - Annapolis, Beach Drive, Manchester, South Colby, Southworth - can be found up and down the shores of the Port Orchard Area.

Bremerton

Bremerton is Kitsap’s biggest city and the main escape route to Seattle. Its pride, a naval city and its work ethic are legendary - so are the views of the Olympic Mountains! A thriving arts and culture scene meets a blossoming food and restaurant culture…just a few signs that Bremerton’s best days are ahead.

Poulsbo was settled by Norwegian immigrants in then 1880’s and maintains a strong sense of nordic heritage on the serene shores of Liberty Bay today. Poulsbo’s marina is a popular draw for boaters as is the excellent anchorage in Liberty Bay. Pubs, cafes, shops, museums, restaurants and galleries line Front Street and visitors and locals alike gravitate towards the warm glow of the brewpubs like Brass Kraken and the Slippery Pig.

Bainbridge Island

The Island of Bainbridge, 2nd largest city in Kitsap, runs parallel to the mainland of Kitsap County from Port Orchard to Poulsbo where it connects via the Agate Pass Bridge. Since the 1960s, Bainbridge has become an increasingly affluent bedroom community of Seattle given its walkability from downtown Seattle by way of the Washington State Ferries.

Kingston

Kingston’s main drag seems to be dedicated to places to enjoy food and drink. As HWY 104 winds down to its conclusion at the Kingston-Edmond WSF terminal it becomes a super cute waterfront lane that is lined with pubs and shops and restaurants and cafes and breweries - perfect for a stroll.
